How do we check what are the latest vulnerbaility signatures available for Qualys?
From within the QualysGuard portal, if you look at your Scanner Applinace in the Tools > Scanner Appliances pane, you will note a value in the signatures column e.g. 1.28.130-2. This represents the version of vulnerability signatures in use by the Scanner Appliance. To determine the current version of Vulnerability Signatures available you can view the Online Help, Help > About and look for the section shown below.
If you note the underlined value and see this is the same, your Scanner Appliance is using the latest vulnerability signatures.
Generally speaking, unless the Scanner Appliance has been offline, it will always be using the latest vulnerability signatures as mechanisms are in place to ensure that it checks the platfrom many times a day to retrieve the latest version.
If your Scanner Appliance does not have the latest version of vulnerability signatures, if you return to the Tools > Scanner Appliance menu and edit your Scanner Appliance, you can select the 'Update Now' button which will be greyed out if no update is required. You can also view the 'Edit Scanner Applaince' window to compare the latest or installed version of the Scanner Appliance vulnerability signatures, scanning engine e.g. 5.16.39-1 or operating system e.g. 2.6.
If you do not have a Scanner Appliance and using the shared Scanner Appliances, these will always be using the latest versions of vulnerability signatures.
