I want to learn more on how to setup and configure the CERT View module. I could not find anything in the online resources or on the online documentation page.
Thanks in advance
The documentation is the online help in the product -- we are not planning a separate guide for this. The best way to see it is to sign up for CertView (since it's free).
CertView configuration seems to be very straight forward, yet I cannot upload a proper .pem file for the initial CA config. Can we add certificates from sources like GlobalSign, VeriSign or GoDaddy, or should it be a certificate from internal CA?
Can we also add .crt, .der?
There is a flaw in the way CertView currently validates the file extension, so if your filename is "example.cert.pem", the file will fail to upload. Renaming the file to "example.pem" will get the file uploaded (assuming it is a valid PEM file and a CA certificate). Any valid CA certificate (publicly trusted or internal) can be added.
We are updating this in the next few weeks so that you can upload files with filenames such as example.cert.pem, or any valid PEM formatted CA file with .pem, .crt or .cer extension.
A .der file typically indicates a binary format so CertView will not accept that format. You can convert that binary format to a base64 format before adding the CA.
Any updates on importing a .crt file? Doesn't seem to be supported yet...
We're releasing that fix along with a few other bug fixes. The patch will be deployed across the shared PODs starting next week. Depending on your POD, you might see that support next week itself or the week after, as its rolled out to all PODs.
Was this bug fixed as planned? I.e. customers can now upload in .crt and .cer format?
Yes, this has been fixed. You can import .cer or .crt files in addition to .pem.
Little late to the party, but here is the User Guide.https://www.qualys.com/docs/qualys-certificateview-user-guide.pdf- Jay
