Is there a way to create a User Defined Control (UDC) in the policy compliance section of the API? I dont think there is but would like a 'being dumb' check from the community.
Hi Michael, this is currently not possible. We can certainly look into developing this feature.
I'm curious, would you kindly describe how you would use this?
we receive several Indicators of Compromise that we could be using to scan against. While we could create them manually, it would be far more efficient to scale this to create several at once and then do a scan, clean it up and move on to the next batch.
Michael, this is excellent feedback. I will work with the PC product manager and reach out to you if we have more questions.
There is one other way which will let you create UDCs in bulk without having to configure them through UI, and that is to use UDC Import/Export functionality.
You can create an XML ( which adheres to UDC Import/Export definition) defining all the UDCs you want to create and simply import this XML through UI, ( Controls => New => Import from XML File) to create all the UDC in one shot.
Hers is the help document which explains how to create XML for defining UDCs. https://qualysguard.qualys.com/qwebhelp/fo_portal/pdf/pc_user_defined_control_xml.pdf
Michael, would this fit your needs in the short term?
seems like it will. Thanks!
