I'd like to ask you about backup of Qualys configuration/settings (report temps, search lists, asset groups etc.) which created by users/admins. Does anyone know how to make backup such things in Qualys?
Is there a specific need to backup these items?
Our product unlike a traditional software program is stroed via the cloud so there is no need for our customers to back up anything as far as setting, configurations, or data. Everything will remain in your subscription until you delete it.
To answer your question though, we currently do not have a way to back up these items.
Thank you for response.
Recently I noticed that one of our report template has been changed and people who created reports is left the firm. I spent some time to restore original template. Another case is, we have three people with
Manager access rights and one of them activated schedule in reporting section. So to avoid such kind of inadvertently changes, I would to have some backup of settings which we made with our "hands", not only initial settings which provided by Qualys.
My team provides VM and Compliance scan service to 29 territories in CEE region and if settings/configuration which we created will be removed accidentally or specially, we will need to spend much time to restore all of these configuration.
Hope you will think about it because backup is crusial in such cases.
@Michael/Qualys: Just to point out here - and add on the fact that I understand that because Qualys is deployed in SaaS, I understand why a 'backup' may not make sense as part of the solution - but perhaps the feature request require here is that of a 'revert', such that a manager can revert settings in a report or scan schedule or such back to a certain date. This would address an issue where some one changed something that took a while to notice, but needs to be reverted back to original.
@Muzzafar, what I'd recommend is that you encourage working with duplicates, ie, if someone wishes to change something, they make a copy of the template, change what they like and test, and if good to go, can be overwritten on the current version. For the record, Qualys logs a variety of information in the audit section where it tracks which user made what kind of interaction - so at least you can track who made the change in the event you do not know (although it'd require a bit of digging considering the size of activity).
Hope this helps. Do let me know if I didn't fully understand your situation
I understand the need for backing up report templates, options profiles, search lists, etc... as these items could be time consuming to re-create if lost. We do allow the option to make items global or not which works for keeping things secure from others unless the other user is a Manager as they will have full access.
I would be happy to submit a Feature Request for you on this issue.
Please open a support ticket if you would like to persue this.
Hi @ Michael, I performed a scan in the last month and I manually delete the scan list. and now I need the result of this scan again, have any solution for my problem?
Once data is deleted it is gone. You do have the option to download the Scan results in several different formats which can be stored in your own offline solution if needed. This would allow you the ability to have redundancy.
