Hi, need help with an official document that explains how to estimate the required numbers of WAS licenses. Need this information in order to properly size the correct number of WAS licenses.
Thanks in advance
I would first and foremost urge you to have this discussion with your TAM (Technical Account Manager), but as a start, we sometimes define a web application as a link that defines a unique business process. Therefore, WAS licensing relies on defining a web app that consists of said unique business process. This of course is a logical definition, not a technical one. The definition is intended to be flexible and there will be exceptions. Most of this works itself out in a POC (proof of concept), trial or demo of WAS. It will become much more clear how web apps are defined once you begin setting them up and scanning them. Then, you will be better equipped to internally find how many web applications are present in your environment and then discuss pricing models with your TAM.
