Cloud Agent Mac 2.3.2 compatibility with macOS Catalina (10.15) and Supplemental Update

Question asked by Chris Carlson Employee on Oct 19, 2019

Qualys Engineering certifies available Cloud Agent versions on developer, beta, preview, and pre-release versions of upcoming operating system releases in order to announce compatibility when the GA version is released by the vendor.

This certification was performed on Beta releases of macOS Catalina (10.15) with no adverse impact to the Cloud Agent.

When the GA version of macOS Catalina was released by Apple on October 7, 2019, Qualys Engineering determined that changes introduced by Apple between the Beta and GA releases caused functional issues to the Cloud Agent during certain operations like log rotate that may impact normal operation.

Many users and vendors providing software for Apple macOS have reported similar operating-impacting issues.

On October 15, 2019, Apple released a Supplemental Update to the macOS Catalina (10.15) GA release that fixes a number of issues, including the issue we determined with Cloud Agent Mac 2.3.2.  Apple releases macOS Catalina Supplemental Update | Macworld

Applying this update will fix the issues impacting Cloud Agent.

Apple recommends all users apply this Supplemental Update.  Apple security updates - Apple Support

Qualys Recommendation:

  • Apply the macOS Catalina Supplemental Update for systems running Cloud Agent Mac
  • Applying this update does not require reinstallation or changes to the agent
