What happens exactly when pausing a running scan?
When pausing a running scan for multiple hosts, scans for hosts that have not been scanned yet are put on hold and scans for hosts in progress are aborted. Scan results for hosts that are already finished are kept. Partial scan results for aborted scans are discarded. When resuming the scan, a new scan will be started having thh hosts that haven't been scanned yet as targets.
Example: A scan is running on 10 hosts. 3 hosts are done, 2 are in progress, 5 have not been scanned yet. When pausing, the 2 in progress are aborted. When resuming, a new scan is started on the remaining 7 hosts.
When pausing a running scan for a single host, the entire scan is aborted.
When resuming the scan, a new scan is started for the host.
Example: A scan is running on a single host. It has been running for half an hour and is 99% done. When pausing the scan, it is aborted. When resuming, the scan for the host is started from the beginning and has to run another half hour to finish.
